Dear Mrs. EditorName,
As you advised me, I am submitting my curricula vitae and four writing samples for your review. All of them were written for classes I have taken at Brandeis. They are written for an academic audience and assume that the reader has solid understanding of biology and familiarity with the topics under discussion. Nonetheless, I hope they will provide a useful glimpse of my writing style.
Based on the qualifications you have listed in your ad, you would be especially interested in papers entitled "How did Taiwan largely escape the initial contagion effects of the Asian Crisis?" and "Market Failures in Healthcare Provision".
The first paper was researched and written in a one-week period during which I also had to keep up with four other classes and worked on my senior thesis project. I was assigned a topic to research and the final paper was due one week later. I will leave it up to you to judge the quality of research, analysis and presentation but it demonstrates the type of work I am capable of performing under deadline pressure and while devoting only part-time efforts to a project.
The second manuscript entitled "Market Failures in Healthcare Provision..." analyzes healthcare market in the United States with the goal of recommending fiscally sound practical policies that would improve functioning of the healthcare market and decrease the number of unwillingly uninsured Americans.
Of two enclosed samples of scientific writing, the short one is an abstract of my work written for a Howard Hughes Fellowship Symposium. The longer piece is a review article on the current state of knowledge on the very narrow topic of my senior thesis research project.
I hope you will enjoy my highly informative writings. It would be my pleasure to hear from you again. Should you need more information or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Joe Jobseeker
